The Domain

Watch Trailer

The epic chronicle of a family that owns one of the largest estates in Europe, on the south bank of the River Tagus. The Domain delves deeply into the secrets of their territory, portraying the historical, political, economic and social life of Portugal, starting in the 1940s, through the Camation Revolution in 1974 to the present day. Central to the story is the charismatic, powerful owner of the domain. The fascist government pleads for his support in their colonial war, but he turns them away. The socialist “camation” revolutionaries demand that he turns over the estate to them. He turns them away too.

With pressures from both within and without can the owner sustain his stance, or will his pride be his downfall? The ending will come as a surprise.

The Domain is a work of fiction, but the story is loosely based on a real man and his estate and is set against actual historical events that shaped present-day Portugal.
