ABOUT THE COMPANY
Music Box Films is the prestigious North American distributor of acclaimed international, independent, and documentary feature films. Recent releases include Cannes Directors’ Fortnight baseball comedy Eephus by Carson Lund; Sarah Friedland’s Venice prize-winning coming-of-old-age drama, Familiar Touch, starring Kathleen Chalfant; Angus MacLachlan’s poignant family portrait, A Little Prayer, starring David Strathairn; and Charlie Shackleton’s Sundance award-winning true-crime autocritique, Zodiac Killer Project.
Since its formation in 2007, Music Box Films has distributed award-winning films and art-house favorites that include Academy Award winner Ida, Meru (from Oscar-winning filmmakers Jimmy Chin and E. Chai Vaserhelyi), Christian Petzold’s Transit, the popular Swedish comedy A Man Called Ove, and the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. INTERNSHIP SUMMARY
Our interns work directly with the marketing, theatrical, and home entertainment teams in a variety of responsibilities to help promote our films. Interns will learn the daily operations of film distribution, marketing, publicity and strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Support grassroots marketing efforts by researching, identifying and contacting organizations and businesses.
- Coordinate and document grassroots partnership efforts including social media call outs, ticket giveaways, newsletter inclusion, etc.
- Support film festival, non-theatrical and educational outreach by researching and compiling contacts.
- Disseminate marketing materials as needed to aggregators and exhibitors.
- Various report updating including but not limited to compiling press breaks, taking screener inventory, online distribution checking of promotional materials, etc.
- Update website with theater listings as new engagements are booked.
- Draft social media content, including captions and creative assets.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a current college student receiving college credit.
- You must be a management, marketing, PR, advertising, communications, film & video, or entertainment major.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills: planning and project management, detail and results oriented.
- Interpersonal skills: must be able to work independently or collaboratively as needed, have creativity and a willingness to learn and try new things.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Dropbox. Experience in graphic design is preferred.
- Available to work 2 to 3 days a week within the hours of Monday through Friday, 10am to 5pm.
