MUSIC BOX ACQUIRES OSS 117 SEQUEL, “LOST IN RIO

Chicago, IL….Music Box Films is pleased to announce the acquisition of all US rights to Michel Hazanavicius’ OSS 117 – LOST IN RIO (OSS 177 – Rio ne répond plus), starring Jean Dujardin, a madcap satirical comedy that follows suave but clueless spy Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath – better known as OSS 117 – as he travels across Brazil in 1967 with a beautiful Israeli agent on the trail, high-ranking Nazi.

French comedy sensation Jean Dujardin, who also starred in Michel Hazanavicius’ OSS 117: CAIRO NEST OF SPIES – a blockbuster in France and a cult hit in the US – is at his ironic best as the Pride of French Intelligence. A cross between James Bond and Austin Powers, the film is an ultra-stylized spoof of a popular in France-only hero of a series of ’50’s and ’60’s pulp spy novels and later movies.

Music Box partners Edward Arentz and William Schopf negotiated the deal with Cecile Gaget and Loic Trocme, of Gaumont, the film’s international sales agent.
“Dujardin’s OSS 117 starts where Peter Seller’s Inspector Clouseau left off in satirizing a certain species of French chauvinism, ethnic insensitivity, wanton womanizing and general foolishness,” says Music Box’s William Schopf.

OSS 117 – LOST IN RIO begins its US theatrical release on May 14, 2010.
